| 抄録: | Following the previous papers which treated text books and teacher's books for Kindergarten, and Grade 1-4, we introduce and investigate an American arithmetic text book and the teacher's book for Grade 5, named "Mathematics" published by McGraw-Hill Company. And we point out that in this text book, some algebraic concepts which are, in Japan, introduced in Junior High School are taught, such as minor numbers, coordinate graph, quadrants, and linear functions. Explanations of geometric properties, such as the formula for the area of a circle are not sufficient, and the systematic teaching of probability shown in this text book does not exist in Japan. |
