抄録: | The author has been investigating how young children acquire the concept of numbers at
Takara day-care center in Tsuru under a grant from Tsuru University for Special Researches.
Since March 2011, we have also investigated in Miyoshi day-care center in Tsuru. As a result
we have changed the title of these serial papers to “Special Research Report at Daycare
Centers in Tsuru City” from “Special Research Report at Takara Day-Care Center”.
The results of experiments which treated number concepts are explained and introduced
in this paper. The experiments were carried out over seven days between October 2010 and
March 2011.
In chapter 2, the results of the experiment on October 4 with a class of 3-year old children
are reported. In this experiment we examined the children’s abilities of comparing the
cardinality, of understanding the equality of cardinalities smaller than 6, of making one-to-one
correspondence between beats and cardinality fewer than 4, of comparing the cardinalities by
piles, and of understanding of increasing.
In chapter 3, the results of the experiment on October 25 with a class of 4-year old children
are reported. In this experiment we examined the children’s abilities of understanding of
increasing, of making piles of size 5, of comparing the cardinalities by piles.
In chapter 4, the results of the experiment on November 4 with a class of 5-year old
children are reported. The experiment treated the abilities of making piles of size 5, of
comparing the cardinalities by bocks, and of understanding the one-to-one correspondence
between piles and numerals.
In chapter 5, the results of the experiment on December 20 with a class of 3-year old
children are reported. The experiment treated the abilities of understanding the equality of
cardinalities smaller than 6, of making one-to-one correspondence between beats and
cardinality fewer than 4, of comparing the cardinalities by piles.
In chapter 6, the results of the experiments on December 22 with a class of 4-year old
children are reported. The contents of this experiment were similar to those of chapter 5.In chapter 7, the results of the experiment on February 1 with a class of 5-year old children
are reported. The experiment treated the comparing ability of quantities by their five
cardinality pile representation, the making ability of five cardinality piles, making ability of
the corresponding numbers of piles, and understanding ability of pile sizes by the
corresponding numbers.
Chapters 8 and 9 report about the results of experiments at Miyoshi Daycare Center with a
class of 5-year old children.
In chapter 8, the results on March 1 are reported. The experiment treated the abilities of
making piles of cardinality five, of understanding quantity by piles of cardilnality five, and of
telling numerals corresponding to the number of piles.
In chapter 9, the results on March 2 are reported. The results of the experiment about the
abilities of understanding of comparing quantities by piles, of representing quantity by
numbers, of comparing two piles by their numeric representation are presented. |
